Without Galileo, one of the greatest scientists ever to live, we wouldn’t know a whole lot about our solar system. Galileo proved many scientific methods wrong. Aristotle’s believed that the sun and planets revolved around the earth. However, Galileo proved that theory to be false with his telescope. He could easily see Aristotle was wrong. When Galileo figured out that the world revolved around the sun, he announced the news to the city and he became famous. Galileo was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy. He was the oldest of seven children. At the age of 11, he moved to Florence. For college he went back to Pisa and went to Pisa University. At Pisa University he questioned a lot of statements that were in the books, and received the nickname the Wrangler. Galileo’s married a women named Marina Gamba. They had two daughters and one son. His first daughter was named Virginia and she was born in 1600. His second daughter, Livia, was born in 1601. His only son was born in 1606 and his name was Vincenzio. Galileo enemy’s doubled after experimenting with new ideas. He was a philosopher, teacher, mathematician, author, astronomer and a scientist. He was a teacher from 1589-1592. Galileo, even though he had a sufficient amount of people who didn’t like him, was still known as a brilliant Galileo discovered the law of falling objects. According to this law objects of different sizes drop at the same speed. He also discovered the law of Pendulum which is where pendulums that are the same length but different size have arcs move at the same rate. As a teacher at the University of Pauda he was free to explore new ideas. Many people think he invented the telescope but he actually didn’t. Hans Lippershey probably made the first telescope. He discovered Jupiter’s four moons, he also discovered new stars and, here on earth, and that the planet Venus goes through seasons like we do. When he announced this, his fame spread even further. Galileo was able to go meet the Pope. He showed the Pope all of these discoveries. As an author he wrote a book called The Starry Messenger. This book reveled what he saw through his telescope.
